The 13-title longlist for the 2024 International Booker Prize has been announced, and includes The Silver Bone, Crooked Plow, Itamar Vieira Junior, translated by Johnny Lorenz (Verso)
The award is given “every year for a single book that is translated into English and published in the UK or Ireland.” The £50,000 prize is divided equally among the author and translator(s). Shortlisted authors and translators will each receive £1,000. Judges for 2023 are Uilleam Blacker Parul Sehgal, Leïla Slimani (chair), Frederick Studemann, and Tan Twan Eng. The 6-title shortlist will be announced April 18, and the winning title will be announced at a ceremony at the Sky Garden in London on May 23, 2023.
