FAKE AND UNSAFE SOLAR ECLIPSE GLASSES HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED. HERE’S A SAFE DIY ALTERNATIVE

 Hey, Space Placers!

Eye safety is JOB #1 during any solar eclipse. The American Astronomical Society (AAS) has solar eclipse eye safety guidelines you can count on.

People can buy approved solar eclipse glasses from AAS recommended vendors (see the above link for these vendors) which prevents you from buying and using unsafe counterfeit eclipse glasses which is a problem that cropped up in 2017 and is now a concern for the April 8, 2024 solar eclipse.

AAS has just announced that fake and counterfeit solar eclipse glasses have been discovered and pose a threat to eye safety. This happened in 2017 as well.

Read the ENTIRE AAS press release for your eye safety.

The above video gives you details for a DIY pinhole camera which is a safe alternative to eclipse glasses. EarthSky.org states,  “This procedure was devised by the awesome engineers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.”
