Orbit Works Launch – Locus Online

Orbit’s new digital imprint, Orbit Works, has announced its first four titles, with the first to launch in Fall 2024.

The first Orbit Works title will be Sophia Slade’s Nightstrider, a dark fantasy about creatures with the ability to cross the boundary between the dream realm and the real world. Slade has previously independently published seven books, ranging from dark fantasy to poetry.

Nightstrider will be followed by Laura Mayo’s debut How to Summon a Fairy Godmother, a fresh and hilarious expansion of the Cinderella tale; Katie Hallahan’s The Twice-Sold Soul, a contemporary LGBTQ romantic fantasy; and Level: Unknown by David Dalglish, who has previously written 17 books published by Orbit and 47North, in addition to 12 independently-published novels. Level: Unknown will be Orbit’s first LitRPG novel, a subgenre that merges the statistical progression of video games with the narrative storytelling of traditional SFF novels.

Titles will be published internationally as ebooks and digital audiobooks.

Orbit Works editor Stephanie Clark says, “We’ve had great success with our open submission program, with three of our four premier titles coming directly from our inbox.” Orbit Works remains open to submissions from both agents and directly from writers. For more, see orbitworks.net.
