- “Let me guess…one of your Strikes took out a reedug shipment?“
“The Reekriders.“ - ―Zeetar and Lourna Dee, while conversing with Pan Eyta
The Reekrider Cartel, or the Reekriders, was a criminal cartel. Following the Battle of Kur in 232 BBY, a Nihil Strike in Tempest Runner Pan Eyta‘s Tempest group seized a reedug drug shipment from the cartel, which had been destined for the celestial body Athiss. While under the influence of reedug given to him by Eyta, Udi Dis—Nihil leader Marchion Ro‘s escort—told the Tempest Runner how the leader acquired the group’s Path hyperspace routes used in raids. When Eyta informed fellow Tempest Runners Lourna Dee and Zeetar of that information in 231 BBY, the pair suspected that the reedug provided to Dis had been from the Reekriders.
Description[]
The Reekrider Cartel, also known simply as the Reekriders, was a criminal cartel active by the time of the High Republic Era.[1]
History[]
At some point following the Battle of Kur[1] in 232 BBY,[2] the cartel sent a shipment of the recreational reedug drug to the astronomical object Athiss. However, the shipment was seized by a Nihil Strike in the Tempest of Tempest Runner Pan Eyta before it arrived. Eyta gave a sample of the drug to the recovering addict Udi Dis, the personal escort of the Nihil leader Marchion Ro, in an attempt to ply him for useful intel. While under reedug’s influence, Dis revealed to Eyta—who was recording their conversation—that the Nihil’s Paths, hyperspace routes used by Nihil ships with Path engines during raids, were provided by an old woman aboard the leader’s flagship, the Gaze Electric.[1]
In 231 BBY,[3] Tempest Runner Lourna Dee thought about Eyta’s seizure of the Reekrider Cartel’s shipment while contemplating the Nihil’s recent attempts to lull the Galactic Republic into a false sense of security, considering the endeavor was relatively minor and unlikely to draw attention. She and fellow Tempest Runner Zeetar were then told the source of the Nihil’s Paths by Eyta, who showed them the recording of his conversation with Dis. Zeetar suspected the reedug the escort had been given was from the Reekriders, whom Dee then named.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The Reekrider Cartel was mentioned in the 2021 novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott[1] for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project’s Phase I.[4]
