What students say they want from uni

Every year, the Universities Admissions Centre asks a bunch of Year 12 students what’s important to them when choosing a course to study.

Many of the top priorities on students’ minds have changed since last year, so we wanted to share!

We’ve had a look and drawn together three of the biggest takeaways from the report:

#1
80% of students make course decisions based on passions

Most students in university are choosing to pursue degrees based on their passions!

We love to see this, as your passion can take you anywhere! Our STEM + X formula embodies this, combining your passions with a career in STEM – there is so much that can be applied!

Check out our role models for more examples of how STEM can be integrated with your passion.

#2
42% of students are worried that AI will surpass human intelligence

Students are sceptical of AI and are concerned about the risks that it poses.

There are opportunities to learn about how AI works and how we can shape it to better suit us, especially through studying specialised courses in the field.

#3
64% of students value employability outcomes

Looking to future jobs has become more important for students than ever before.

Alongside considering the employability of a course, students are also more concerned about internship opportunities and work experience.
